Arsenal are being linked with a move for RB Leipzig defender, Ibrahima Konate, as Mikel Arteta seemingly plots his summer transfer moves.

Per the Evening Standard, it is claimed the Gunners are keen on landing Konate, who has been outstanding for RB Leipzig despite being just 21-years-old.

The Gunners know they won’t be able to land Konate with any ease. Big names in Europe are also said to be keen, including the likes of Manchester United and Bayern Munich.

Indeed, Konate could well play for any of the big names in Europe, if former coach Ralf Rangnick is to be believed. Speaking previously about Konate, Rangnick insisted he was ‘so good’ that he could play for Real Madrid or Barcelona.

“I’m particularly delighted with our coup in signing Ibrahima Konaté. He’s so good that he could play for Real Madrid or Barcelona one day,” Rangnick is quoted as saying. (GetFootballNewsGermany)

Arsenal, then could have quite the talent on their hands it seems if they do move for Konate. Along with Dayot Upamecano, Leipzig have been lucky to have two of the best defensive prospects on the continent on their hands.

Losing both in the same summer, however, will be a huge blow to the German outfit.

TBR View: High praise indeed and something Arsenal fans will take note of

You don’t get tipped to play for the cream of the crop without being a superstar in the making. Konate, is seems, is certainly that.

Rangnick knows a player when he sees one, so his praise should be taken onboard. Interestingly, in the same article covering Konate from GFNG, Robert Lewandowski also singled out the Leipzig man and his partner for praise.
