Arsenal fans were left looking on and wondering what might be last night as Norwich City star, Emi Buendia, helped the Canaries destroy Huddersfield Town.
Buendia helped himself to three assists and a goal before the opening 45 had even come to a close. It was the performance of dreams from the little playmaker, who has been linked with a move to the Gunners more than once.
In fact, as recent as just a few weeks ago, Eurosport claimed that Arsenal were readying a bid for Buendia. It is claimed Norwich will demand around £40m if they are to sell, although performances like last night’s might add further value.
And local media couldn’t get enough of Buendia’s display, with the local newspaper for Norwich, ‘The Pin Un‘, awarding Buendia a perfect ten and laudig his display.
What local Norwich media said about Emi Buendia
It was little surprise to see Buendia given the perfect score for his display last night. It has been coming all season, such has been his mighily impressive form at Carrow Road.
“A virtuoso performance in a Championship showreel which had already hit the heights this season. A goal and three assists prior to the interval was ridiculous productivity, even by the Argentine’s high standards. Started in the 20th minute with a superb pass over the top of Town’s backline for Teemu Pukki to race clear”, the report said.
“Then fired past Joel Pereira from 20 yards via the right-hand post. A ‘Cruyff’ turn teed up Todd Cantwell before a training ground juggle with Kieran Dowell to finish. Oh, and a free kick smacked against the bar for good measure. Wonderful.”
Arsenal, then, might well be wise to ensure they get that bid in early if they do fancy landing Buendia. And if the latest Arsenal performances are anything to go by, then they might just need him ASAP.
