Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing coveted French midfielder Benjamin Bourigeaud this summer.
The Gunners have been named as one of five Premier League teams keen on the 25-year-old, with Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Chelsea also credited by Estadio Deportivo.
Bourigeaud enjoyed a fine campaign for Rennes in 2018/19, playing a total of 52 games and contributing to 19 goals (nine goals, 10 assists).
English clubs are on alert for the versatile attacking midfielder, who has been valued at around £18 million by his club.
Bourigeaud’s price tag makes him a genuine option for teams that don’t have huge funds.
Having failed to secure Champions Legaue football, Arsenal are a club who are on the lookout for shrewd deals.
Having lost Aaron Ramsey, Unai Emery needs fresh impetus in midfield.
The Spanish tactician needs someone who can make things happen in the final third just as Ramsey did, and Bourigeaud could be that man.
The Calais-born star isn’t quite the finished article yet, but has the potential to become a Ramsey-esque player.
Bourigeaud has superb vision and likes to make runs beyond the strikers in a bid to score goals himself.
He is also effective on set-pieces, which surely makes him even more appealing.
