Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos has been left out of Zinedine Zidane’s squad for the International Champions Cup in the United States.
The tournament’s official Twitter page confirmed the Real party for the pre-season tournament, and the talents of the player who lit up the Under 21 European Championships are not among them.
Of course, it cannot be ruled out that his summer tournament involvement has earned him an extended rest but there have been no obvious briefings eluding to that so far.
The news is likely to be of interest to north London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham, who Sky Sports News report are both interested in the player.
Both clubs could do with midfield improvements and a young, hungry player like Ceballos would be the ideal candidate.
The major snag may be that Ceballos reportedly prefers a loan move this season because he still sees his long-term future at Madrid.
That said, both clubs are money-conscious and the opportunity to get such a talent for a low loan fee – if there even is one – may appeal so much that they aren’t concerned.
But it would be wise to await official confirmation on why the Spaniard hasn’t travelled before getting too excited about Ceballos arriving in north London.
