A report from El Espanol claims that Newcastle United have been rejected by Zinedine Zidane – with the Frenchman waiting for Manchester United.
Zidane, 49, is currently out of work after being replaced by Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid in the summer. It came, after Atletico Madrid won La Liga.
The Frenchman took charge of 263 games during his time at Madrid manager across two different spells. He won 174 of those matches.
A ratio of around 66%. But he is yet to find a new home, having only ever managed at Madrid. He came through the ranks, managing the B-team.
Newcastle have chanced their arm, launching an ambitious move to lure the 1998 World Cup winner to Tyneside. But it has been rejected.
Indeed, Zidane is waiting for two jobs – either the Manchester United position, or to take over from Didier Deschamps as France boss.

Zidane rejects Newcastle: Howe looking more and more likely
It was always going to be an ambitious one. But with every rejection, comes increasing pressure on the new owners to finally install a new gaffer.
It looks more and more likely that Eddie Howe is going to get the nod. This is after Unai Emery publicly turned down a move with a statement.
Howe, of course, left Bournemouth after relegation. But the English gaffer must be praised for taking Bournemouth from League 2 to Premier League.
Zidane has no Premier League experience, or knowledge of a relegation scrap. Howe has both, and seems like a good man manager.
