According to a report from the Sunday People (29/9; page 52), Wolves have sent scouts to watch Real Madrid-owned Martin Odegaard in his last two appearances.
Odegaard has made an excellent start to life with Real Sociedad after arriving on loan in the summer. He has scored two goals and contributed one assist in six La Liga appearances.
He scored the winner against Mallorca back in August, and also found the back of the net in the 2-0 win against Atletico Madrid. His assist came in Thursday’s emphatic 3-0 win over Alaves, and saw the Norwegian produce an outrageous through ball.
The 20-year-old is attracting attention. The Sunday People (29/9; page 52) reports that Wolves are interested and could make a move if Los Blancos decide to make him available.
The report notes that Madrid could ask for around £20 million for the youngster, who had spent the last two seasons on loan in the Eredivisie.
Signing Odegaard would be a major statement of intent from Wolves. He has long been considered one of the most exciting prospects in the world. And he now looks to be getting his career back on track.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s men could be looking at the January window as a crucial spell in their season. They only secured their first league win of the season on Saturday. And they will be looking to recover from a defeat in their opening group-stage game in the Europa League.
Wolves have so much quality in their squad, so it would be a surprise if they did not move up the league table in the near future. But if still needed, signing Odegaard in January could be the catalyst that sees Nuno’s men rediscover their form from last season.
