Wolves are set to make a summer swoop for Portugal and Real Betis midfielder, William Carvalho, according to a report from Estadio Deportivo.
The 29-year-old has long been touted for a move to England. A regular for Portugal, his name has cropped up in nearly every transfer window since around Euro 2016, where he impressed for his country.
Indeed, Leicester City are reportedly keen on bringing Carvalho to the King Power Stadium, with reports last month suggesting Brendan Rodgers was looking to tie up a deal.
However, it appears Wolves are also in the running for his signature. Jorge Mendes is, apparently, once again central to any deal being concluded between the two clubs. The well-known ‘super agent’ has been a part of numerous deals with Wolves, helping the likes of Ruben Neves and Diogo Jota to Molineux.
Carvalho, who is a central midfielder, has missed big chunks of this season thanks to injury, making just eleven appearances for the Spanish side.
He is, however, now back fit and could well be open to finally completing a move to the Premier League.
Ideal player to come in if Ruben Neves goes, albeit different – TBR View
With Wolves looking to build towards Europe once again and keep strengthening, the signing of Carvalho would be the ideal sort of capture for Nuno Santo’s men.
The future of Ruben Neves is still up in the air, so Carvalho may step in for his international compatriot. On the other hand, he’d also be good to have to play alongside the Wolves maestro.
Carvalho is highly-rated. Indeed, back in 2016, Rio Ferdinand commented that he’d like to see him at Manchester United after his impressive displays in 2016. Proof, then, that the 29-year-old has talent in abundance.
