Report: Wolves star Romain Saiss wanted by Rennes
Wolves star Romain Saiss is wanted by Rennes, with Foot Mercato reporting that he could be open to a return to France.
The 31-year-old has been at Molineux since 2016. In that time, he has made over 170 appearances for the club in all competitions.
He played 27 times in the Premier League this past season. And with that, he triggered an option in his deal that saw his contract extended by a further year – as noted by the Express and Star.
Nevertheless, it appears that he could still leave in this window.
According to Foot Mercato, Rennes are interested in signing the Morocco international.
It is suggested that he could be interested in returning to Ligue 1. But it is hinted that Rennes may potentially struggle to meet his financial demands.
What must be noted about the report is that it appears to hint that Saiss could leave on a free transfer.
However, Wolves included Saiss in their retained list. So it would certainly appear that Rennes would have to agree a fee with his club to make a move happen.
Wolves fans may be divided as Rennes eye Morocco star Saiss
Saiss is one of the longest-serving players within the current squad. And he has been a fantastic servant.
However, it does appear that he divides opinion amongst Wolves fans.
With that in mind, it seems likely that reports about his future may split the supporters.
At a time when Wolves are set to appoint a new manager, the club may be wary of making too many changes in one window.
Having said that, it could be a good time to move some of the previously-key men on.
The new manager will have their own plans to fund in the coming weeks. So the club may be tempted to consider any reasonable bids that come in.
