Spanish newspaper Marca have claimed that Wolverhampton Wanderers are ‘one step away’ from completing a move to sign Real Madrid defender Jesus Vallejo on a season-long loan.

Vallejo, 22, broke into Zinedine Zidane’s side towards the end of last season after an excellent loan spell in Germany with Eintracht Frankurt and 54 appearances for Real Zaragoza.

The Spain Under-21 captain was given four league appearances for Real’s senior side by Zidane towards the end of the 2018-19 campaign, scoring in a 3-2 win over Villarreal. He also played against CSKA Moscow in the Champions League.

It took Vallejo’s first-team tally of appearances to 19 since joining the club from Zaragoza, but it now looks as though he is to go on loan for a second time – this time to Wolves.

TBR’s view – Vallejo an excellent talent, ideal for Wolves

On a season-long loan, Wolves are making an excellent signing in the form of Vallejo. If you are good enough to break into the first team at Real – something Gareth Bale cannot currently do – then you have talent.

Vallejo certainly has that and it will be interesting to see how much game time he gets at Molineux. Conor Coady, Ryan Bennett and Willy Boly are first choice, but Vallejo certainly has a chance at breaking past them.
