Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly on the verge of completing their first signing of the summer.

According to France Football, Paris Saint-Germain defender Raphaël Nya will sign his first professional deal with the club.

The 19-year-old had signed a trainee contract with PSG last year, and captained Thiago Motta’s U19s throughout 2018/19.

It is unclear whether PSG fought for him to stay at the club, but their loss appears to be Wolves’ gain.

Wolves will hope talented Nya can quickly prove himself ready for the first-team, so he can provide competition and cover for Matt Doherty in 2019/20.

TBR’s view

Nya could be a shrewd bit of business by Wolves, with Doherty Nuno Espirito Santo’s only other credible option at right wing-back.

The Republic of Ireland international played almost every game last term, but with Europa League football on the horizon at Molineux, he will need an understudy.

Right-back Nya is also able to operate at centre-back, which could potentially come in very for handy for Espirito Santo.
