Report: Wolves set to open talks for defender linked with Nuno's Tottenham
Fabrizio Romano says Wolves are set to open talks for Lille’s Sven Botman, but they could face competition from Tottenham and Nuno Espirito Santo.
Back in July, Sky Sports said that Tottenham are admirers of Lille centre-back Botman. He helped Lille beat PSG to the Ligue 1 title.
But he is likely to move soon. Sky Sports claim that an offer of £27million would be enough for Botman, who has already played 51 times for Lille.
The report stated Tottenham were keen – as are West Ham, Newcastle and Palace. But now, Wolves are set to open talks with Botman, as per Romano.
The transfer expert took to Twitter to report that Wolves are ready to start negotiations but face Sevilla as competition for the Dutch defender.
Botman to England: Wolves or Tottenham, amid Romano claim?
Tottenham have since brought in Argentina international Cristian Romero and look set to keep Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier this summer.
They also boast Joe Rodon who was excellent at Euro 2020 for Wales, and Japhet Tanganga can fill in at centre-back – as can Ben Davies.
Wolves, meanwhile, desperately need a centre-back and were being linked with Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma at one stage. But he is off to West Ham.
So, Botman has a simple choice to make. Spurs are admirers but are hardly going to make a move now. It is whether Botman would rather Sevilla.
Julien Lopetegui has guided his Sevilla side into the Champions League. Wolves do not have European football. Time will tell.
