Greek newspaper Sportime have claimed that Wolverhampton Wanderers are winning the race to sign Olympiacos goalkeeper Jose Sa. Wolves face Jose Mourinho’s Roma as competition in the battle for Sa’s signature, but the Premier League side are in ‘advanced talks’ and a deal could be struck soon.
Sa, 28, has been excellent for Olympiacos in the three years he has spent in Greece. Clocking up 124 appearances for the Greek Super League winners, Sa has produced a clean sheet one every two games – totalling 62. He has only conceded 89 goals in that time, but is yet to win a Portugal cap.
Wolves have replaced Nuno Espirito Santo as manager with Bruno Lage, and Fabrizio Romano stated this week that Lage’s first signing could be Sa. Now, it appears Romano could be right, with talks at an ‘advanced’ stage according to the latest report. It remains how much Sa will cost Wolves.

Sa could be a brilliant signing for Wolves
Rui Patricio is a top, top goalkeeper. But at 33, he might feel leaving Wolves is beneficial to his career. Getting one last pay cheque at a big European club would strengthen his international claims too. So, Wolves need a replacement and they could do little better than a move for Sa.
His stats, albeit in Greece, are phenomenal. A client of Jorge Mendes, obviously, he cost Olympiacos just £2million (Agona Sport), and is likely to be rated at a much bigger figure now. But even if it is around £10million, Wolves are still getting themselves a bargain. A good signing.
