Wolverhampton Wanderers have apparently had a bid rejected for Benfica starlet Gedson Fernandes.
According to Record, the Black Country club tabled a ‘formal’ bid for the 21-year-old, but the Portuguese outfit rejected it and are holding out for €40 million/£34 million.
Fernandes has become highly coveted in recent days, with West Ham United and Chelsea both said to have made offers.

Apparently Wolves will be returning with a revised offer for the Portugal international, and it has been suggested a loan with an obligation-to-buy could be the way forward.
Those are thought to be the offers currently on the table from West Ham and Chelsea, who have put forth loan bids plus obligations of £33 million and £55 million respectively (Sky Sports).
Wolves’ links to Fernandes will come as a little surprise to fans of the Midlands club, who of course have a strong contingent of players from Portugal.
TBR’s view – Fernandes fresh impetus
Fernandes could be a nice addition for Wolves this month if they are able to successfully negotiate a deal with Benfica.

The club have played a lot of games due to being in the Europa League, and Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad could potentially start to feel the effects of fatigue soon.
The manager doesn’t have a wealth of midfield options, especially with Leander Dendoncker and Romain Saiss both playing in defence on occasion.
Realistically another central midfielder is probably a good idea, and Fernandes is a versatile talent who needs a move.
