Wolves are close to beating a number of teams to the signing of Braga attacker, Paulinho, according to a report from Italian outfit, Gianluca DiMarzio.
The impressive Portugal star has been in exceptional form over the last 12 months for Braga. Impressively, he bagged 17 times in just 29 games, while also adding an impressive seven assists, according to Transfermarkt.
The 27-year-old, who can play across the frontline but is predominantly used as a number nine or ten by Braga, had been courted by Lazio, who apparently saw a £13m bid rejected.
But Wolves, with the help of the agent, Jorge Mendes, appear to be on their way to landing Paulinho for around £22.5m.
The addition of the forward will bring much-needed help for Raul Jimenez, who himself faces an uncertain future following an excellent campaign at Molineux.
Paulinho has spent his entire career in Portugal. He arrived at Braga in the summer of 2017 after impressing for Gil Vicente.
Huge boost for Wolves, they’ll be hoping for immediate impact – TBR View
This could be a brilliant piece of business by Wolves and Nuno Santo, especially if Paulinho can show the sort of form he has this season.
His ability isn’t in question, it will just be a case of if he can make the step into the Premier League with relative ease.
However, he’ll take solace from the likes of Joao Moutinho and Ruben Neves. Both fellow countrymen have excelled at Molineux, so Paulinho will be quietly confident he can follow in their footsteps.
