The Sun has claimed that Wolverhampton Wanderers, Newcastle United and Crystal Palace are all interested in signing OGC Nice goalkeeper Walter Benitez this summer.
The 26-year-old has been in excellent form for Patrick Vieira’s side this season, producing the best save-to-shot ratio in European football this season. He even beat the likes of Jan Oblak and Alisson.
Benitez faced 136 on-target shots this season, and saved a whopping 110 of those – equating to about 81%. Oblak saved 79% of his shots, while Alisson stopped 77%.
The Argentina Under-20 international is desperate to be a part of his national side’s campaign in the Copa America, and believes a move to the Premier League will hugely benefit his chances of breaking into the senior side.

“I like the Premier League. It’s a very important league and I would like to play there one day,” Benitez said. “But to play in the Premier League would probably be good for my chances in the national team.”
TBR’s view
Benitez is an excellent goalkeeper. A superb shot stopper, the Argentine commands his box well and at 6ft 3in, he is more than willing to come and collect a cross.
Newcastle may need a goalkeeper this summer, given that Martin Dubravka’s future could be at Juventus. Meanwhile, Crystal Palace have been on the lookout for goalkeepers since January.
But Wolves certainly do not need a new goalkeeper, as Portugal legend Rui Patricio continues to shine between the sticks.
