A report from Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb has claimed that Wolverhampton Wanderers could make a move for Gennaro Gattuso should they replace Nuno Espirito Santo in the summer.
It has been a tough season at Molineux. Wolves find themselves in the bottom-half of the Premier League table. And they seem to have suffered massively after losing Raul Jimenez to a long-term injury.
Nuno has done an amazing job with Wolves. However, it appears that some working behind the scenes may be considering their options for when the Portuguese’s tenure comes to an end.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, Wolves are studying Gattuso. It is suggested that he could become a target should they decide to bring an end to Nuno’s time in charge.
Gattuso has been at the helm at Stadio San Paolo for just over a year. After a tough start, he guided the club to seventh in the top flight last season.
He also won the first trophy of his managerial career, as his side won the Coppa Italia.
They currently sit sixth in the league this time around. Napoli are five points off Atalanta and Juventus in third and fourth respectively.
So it would be interesting to see what he would make of any interest if Wolves came calling. At this stage, it would be a coup if they could tempt him away.
