Sky Sports have claimed on their Transfer Centre (Monday, 13:37pm) that Wolverhampton Wanderers are looking to tie Adama Traore down to a new contract, after securing a deal for goal machine Raul Jimenez earlier this month.
Traore, 24, enjoyed his best season a difficult couple of campaigns beforehand in English football. Nuno Espirito Santo has seemingly provided the Spaniard and former Barcelona ace with an end product that was missing beforehand.
Last season, Traore had a hand in 18 goals during 54 league and cup appearances. He scored six goals, three of which came against Manchester City – while also laying on 12 assists. Traore has been linked with numerous clubs this summer.
But with hours remaining and any chance of a move almost at zero, Wolves are set to hand Traore a new contract and will begin talks over the details of a new deal in the coming weeks. His current deal could expire in the summer of 2023.
TBR’s view – Traore is only going to get better
Though he has been around for some time, Traore is still only 24 and is still very much learning his trade. Another season under Nuno is only going to see Traore – who will travel to represent Spain over the next fortnight – is going to see him improve again.
Landing the big winger on a new deal is excellent work by Wolves, which will delight the fanbase.
