Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly interested in defender Mouctar Diakhaby from Spanish outfit Valencia.

According to L’Equipe, the West Midlands club are eyeing the 22-year-old powerhouse.

The report details that the centre-back is valued at around £17.6million by the La Liga side.

Diakhaby has just enjoyed a great campaign with Valencia, as he made 38 appearances across all competitions and built up his reputation.

The French enforcer enjoyed games in both the Champions League and Europa League, while he’s a commanding presence that is strong in the air.

He’s got a decent turn of pace too and looks an attractive option for a Premier League side.

TBR’s View:

Wolves dazzled on their return to the top flight this season and secured European football for next year with a seventh-placed finish in the Premier League.

Manager Nuno Espirito Santo has enjoyed success with a fairly thin squad, which is why he needs some fresh faces to handle the fixture load during the next year.

They are fairly settled in defence with their back three, but Diakhaby could be an exciting addition to that mix to slot in at centre-back.

The Valencia centre-back is developing into an exciting talent that doesn’t look out of place on the European stage and should keep getting better.

He would certainly help stiffen up competition at centre-back alongside the likes of Conor Coady, Willy Boly and Ryan Bennett.
