Wolverhampton Wanderers have opened talks over a potential move for Thomas Lemar, with Le 10 Sport reporting that Everton have withdrawn from the race to sign the Atletico Madrid man.
Lemar is reportedly available to leave Atleti this summer. He only managed to make 10 starts in La Liga last term and failed to score or provide an assist in the top flight.
Despite his struggles however, it appears that there has been plenty of interest in the Frenchman.
Le 10 Sport reports that Everton tried their luck. However, they have since pulled out of the race to sign the 24-year-old.
Wolves however, are still in the running. And in fact, Le 10 Sport suggests that talks are underway regarding a possible move.
TBR View: Lemar talks look a gamble, but could be inspired move from Wolves
Lemar is looking to get his career back on track. He has failed to replicate the form that he showed at Monaco since moving to Spain a couple of years ago.
But he is young enough to rediscover his best form. And that is why Wolves are reportedly eyeing a potential move for the France international.
It may be a gamble. And much will depend on the sort of terms Atletico are holding out for.
But if there is scope for a reasonably-priced deal to be done, it may seem a no-brainer for many Wolves fans.
