Portuguese outlet Mais Futebol claim that Wolves are closing in on the signing of Olympiacos defender Ruben Semedo. The three-time Portugal international has recently become a client of super agent Jorge Mendes. Now, he is nearing a move to Wolves – and a fee could reach £10million.

Wolves fans are becoming somewhat disgruntled with a lack of transfer activity – at least, signings that will actually improve the starting XI. Trincao has joined on loan from Barcelona, Jose Sa has replaced Rui Patricio and Rayan Ait-Nouri has joined permanently. But Wolves fans want more.

Wolves need more depth in defence and midfield, and cover for Raul Jimenez. Well, it looks as if Wolves are about to sign Semedo. Talks are at the ‘final details’ stage for Semedo, who has joined the Gestifute agency. Olympiacos want £12.8million, but a fee will be between £8.5million and £10million.

Wolves kick into gear, Semedo a very solid signing

Joining Olympiacos back in the summer of 2019 from Villarreal, the Portugal international has been excellent for Olympiacos. In two seasons, he has clocked up 89 appearances and has already played four times in 2021-22. In that time, he has helped Olympiacos win the title twice.

A Greek Cup has also come the way of Semedo, with the defender proving crucial in helping Olympiacos keep a whopping 45 clean sheets in his 89 games during 2019-20 and 2020-21. Wolves are getting themselves a bargain in the form of Semedo, a real coup.
