Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips is a man in-demand despite staying beyond the end of the transfer window. Wolverhampton Wanderers are leading the race for Phillips ahead of the January window, according to The Sun.
Wolves are hoping to take advantage of Phillips’ contract situation. Leeds have been in talks with Phillips over extending his deal, which is currently due to run out in summer 2021. So far, talks have been unsuccessful with Phillips weighing up his options.
The 23-year-old is happy at Leeds but knows that he needs to be playing Premier League football to bolster his hopes of an England call-up. Leeds are determined to keep their homegrown star and hope that promotion will help their case.

Wolves are still interested in the defensive midfielder, who could bulk out their squad for the Europa League. However, Leeds’ £30m demands have put Wolves, Aston Villa and Burnley off so far. And that price tag would have to drop before a January deal can be pushed through.
What next for Phillips?
Phillips is adored at Elland Road and he has been a vital cog in Marcelo Bielsa’s plans. If Leeds win promotion, there is no doubt that he would be happy to stay and play top-flight football with his hometown club.
But if Leeds stay in the Championship, Phillips has to be more selfish and think about his future. A move to Wolves is an exciting opportunity but the bottom line is that he has to be playing Premier League football in the 2020/21 season – no matter which club – to push his Three Lions claim.
