Report: Wolves identify replacement for Arsenal target Ruben Neves
Arsenal have received a boost in their pursuit of Ruben Neves, with The Sun reporting that Wolves have identified a replacement for the midfielder ahead of the summer.
Neves looks set to be a top target for the Gunners in the coming months. Of course, the importance of Mikel Arteta signing a new midfielder has been highlighted in the last week with the squad being stretched.
Reports on Monday claimed that Neves is a priority for Arsenal this summer. Wolves meanwhile, value the Portuguese at £60 million.
And it would seem that Bruno Lage’s men are gearing up for the 25-year-old moving on. The Sun is now reporting that Wolves are eyeing Martim Neto as his replacement.
The 19-year-old is a regular for Benfica B but yet to represent the first-team. Neto is represented by Jorge Mendes and is currently valued at £10 million, according to The Sun.
Ruben Neves a player capable of helping Arsenal move to next level
Neves angered a lot of Arsenal fans earlier this season when he commented on how they celebrated their win at Molineux. And that may cross the mind of supporters amid these fresh links.
However, there is absolutely no question that he could be a brilliant signing for Arsenal. He has been labelled a ‘special‘ player. And he has enjoyed a superb season alongside Joao Moutinho at Molineux.
Wolves are in line to make a substantial profit should they replace Neves with Neto. And Arsenal may hope that that convinces Wolves to accept a lower fee for Neves.
He is someone coming into his prime at a time when Arsenal need more quality in the middle of the park. And it is a further boost that Wolves apparently have his replacement in mind.
