Report: Wolves have now started talks with 43-year-old manager likened to Klopp and Tuchel
Wolves have been in talks with Mainz manager Bo Svensson over taking over in the Molineux dugout after Bruno Lage’s sacking.
The Athletic report that discussions have taken place with the 43-year-old who is among the list of candidates for the job.
That said, they say he is down the shortlist, with other options more likely to be considered by the Wolves hierarchy.
Svensson is not a Jorge Mendes client and the super-agent has plenty of sway at Wolves in terms of the playing and managing side.
Wolves hold talks with Svensson
Svensson was linked with the Brighton job before they decided to go for Roberto De Zerbi to replace Graham Potter, who left for Chelsea.
He has been likened to Jurgen Klopp and Thomas Tuchel by the Athletic, with both German bosses having managed Mainz too, early in their careers.
That offers an idea of the kind of football he would want to play and the report says he wants to play a pressing game and take good care of the ball in possession.
That was what Lage was supposed to bring after Nuno Espirito Santo left, but he did not make the transition when all is said and done.
Lage kept it tight and cagey in his maiden season, opting to stick with the three-man backline Nuno preferred before pushing on this time around.
But the switch to a four-man defence has not gone well, with the side still struggling to score and now looking leakier at the back.
If any new manager wants to bring an attractive brand of football to Molineux, they have a job on their hands, and it remains to be seen who the new man is.
