Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly expressed an interest in South American defender Walter Kannemann.
According to the Daily Mail, the West Midlands club are keen on the 28-year-old Argentine this summer.
He is currently playing for Brazilian club Gremio and has never played in European football.
The report details that he is keen on experiencing European football and that Gremio would sell him for around £10.2million.
It is understood that Arsenal and Atletico Madrid enquired about the centre-back earlier in the year.
Kannemann has five senior international caps for Argentina, but isn’t a part of their Copa America squad this summer.
He’s renowned as a defensive enforcer due to his touch tackling and aggressive approach.
Wolves need extra defensive recruitments ahead of next season, as manager Nuno Espirito Santo has worked with a thin squad during his time at Molineux so far.
His team could be stretched further than before with European football and he is going to need to rotate at times.
Kannemann could be a decent price at £10million, as he’s an international defender and should be entering the peak years of his career.
But there would be a risky element given he’s not experienced European football before and it would be a step up.
