Wolverhampton Wanderers are ‘close’ to completing a move for Patrick Cutrone.

Sky Sports are reporting the Italian youngster is nearing a move to Molineux, with the Black Country club negotiating a fee of £16 million plus add-ons.

AC Milan were holding out for £23 million, but Financial Fair Play restrictions mean they need to recoup funds.

Should Cutrone complete a move, he will become the club’s first new signing of the summer, with Raul Jimenez and Leander Dendoncker having turned their loan moves permanent.

It has been a slow summer for Wolves so far, but it would appear the club are now ready to make some moves with two weeks to go, with Mario Lemina also being linked (Sky Sports).

TBR’s view

Cutrone at £16 million plus add-ons would be fantastic business by Wolves.

The club are crying out for some cover for Raul Jimenez, and the talented starlet would relieve some of the burden on the Mexican.

Last term Wolves shoehorned Diogo Jota up top alongside Jimenez, and the pairing worked really well together.

Wolves playing with two up top would, in theory, mean Cutrone gets plenty of game time – something that’s crucial for his development.

With 34 goals involvements in 90 appearances for Milan, classic number nine Cutrone could be a hit for the Black Country club.
