Report: Wolves closely monitoring Danish starlet Frederik Winther
Wolverhampton Wanderers are one of three clubs chasing Lyngby Boldklub defender Frederik Winther, reports in Denmark claim.
According to Danish media outlet Ekstra Bladet, Wolves have been watching Winther in action. Red Bull Leipzig and Red Bull Salzburg are also keen. Winther could be on his way to the Premier League, Bundesliga or the Austrian Bundesliga soon.
Winther is impressing for Lyngby and is already a fixture in their first-team. The 18-year-old plays in central defence and he has already got 23 appearances under his belt.
Wolves have been scouting Winther in action in the Danish Superligaen and could make a move. Central defence is an area that Nuno Espirito Santo might potentially look to strengthen in the upcoming transfer windows.
Lyngby value Winther highly but might be powerless to stop him making a big move in the near future. Wolves could continue to scout the Denmark U19 starlet ahead of the January window.
Winther is a promising talent but Wolves need to make sure he is the right fit. Standing at 6ft 1in tall, it seems like he already has the physical attributes to excel in senior football.
Wolves will need at least one new centre-back for the short-term and long-term. Nuno likes to play with three central defenders and fourth-choice option Jesus Vallejo has struggled so far. This could open a door for Winther if he joins in January.
