Wolves are reportedly closing in on the signing of Arsenal midfielder, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, with Sky Sports reporting talks have reached an advanced stage for the Gunners ace.

Arsenal are willing to let Maitland-Niles leave as they look to oversee a summer reshape for Mikel Arteta.

And despite playing an important role as the season came to its conclusion last season it appears Maitland-Niles is among those players who Mikel Arteta has deemed surplus to requirements at the Emirates.

It is claimed the 22-year-old has agreed to a four-year deal with Wolves, with the Molineux outfit set to pay a fee in the region of £20m to seal the signing of Maitland-Niles.

Having played for the England under-21s already, it is clear the Arsenal man is highly-regarded in footballing circles. But with Arteta looking to bring funds into the club, it seems the versatile star is set to be sacrificed.

Mikel Arteta had previously lavished praise on him too, insisting he had ‘all the attributes and qualities to be an important player’.

In terms of the ideal that signing Wolves could make, it doesn’t come much better than Maitland-Niles.

He is young, versatile, hungry to improve, and already has Premier League experience. Furthermore, at £20m, it’s hardly a bank-busting transfer either for a club like Wolves.

With Jonny Otto out, it’s the perfect sort of deal for the club to get over the line and Nuno Santo will be delighted with what he is getting.

Hopefully, ‘AMN’ can now kick-on and fulfil some of the promise he has shown down in London with Arsenal.
