Report: Wolves battling Manchester United for Danny Loader
According to a report from the Daily Mail, Wolverhampton Wanderers are ready to reignite interest in Reading striker Danny Loader having failed to sign the youngster during the summer.
The Mail reports that Wolves tried to sign the 19-year-old in August. But having failed, they are ready to make a fresh move during the January transfer window.
Loader is attracting plenty of attention. The Mail suggests that several Premier League sides also want the England under-20 international, including Manchester United.
Loader – who scored on international duty on Tuesday – is yet to score in the Championship this season. But the youngster has bagged three goals in just two appearances in Premier League 2.
He is capable of playing anywhere across the forward line, but has predominantly been used as a central striker.
It is probably not a huge surprise that Wolves are looking at signing a striker in January. Raul Jimenez has been excellent since returning to Molineux on a permanent basis. But Nuno Espirito Santo surely needs greater depth in that area.
Loader’s arrival would see Wolves add to their striker options. But he could also add to the depth that Nuno has out wide.
His record may not exactly jump off the page at this stage of his career. But it is clearly telling that the likes of Wolves and Manchester United are reportedly ready to make a move.
