Belgian outlet HBVL have claimed that Wolverhampton Wanderers and Southampton are both interested in signing £17.8million-rated Inter Milan teenager Zinho Vanheusden this summer.
The 19-year-old joined Standard Liege last summer on loan, the club that he joined Inter Milan’s youth team from in 2015. He has clocked up 30 league and cup appearances for the Belgian side.
Now, Standard Liege want to keep Vanheusden and are willing to splash £17.8million on the player. Indeed, the club are likely to have some money to spend after featuring in the Europa League group stage last summer.
But Liege are not alone in looking to sign the teenage rock, with Wolves, Southampton and German club Mainz also interested in luring the defender away from the San Siro.
Wolves are likely to want another centre-back this summer despite already boasting the likes of Connor Coady, Willy Boly, Ryan Bennett and Leander Dendoncker – though the latter is only on loan.
With Nuno Espirito Santo preferring to use three at the back, cover is required and Vanheusden can provide that. But Southampton are also keen and the chances are that he would be first choice with the Saints.
It remains to be seen if Inter are willing to leave the club, while Vanheusden may be tempted to remain at Standard given that he came through the academy at the Belgian club.
