Rangers and Celtic will have to see off competition from three Premier League sides, as well as from each other, if they hope to sign Tyrese Campbell, according to a report from talkSPORT.
Campbell looks set to be on the move this month. He has scored four goals in 17 Championship games for Stoke City, but his contract expires in the summer.
TalkSPORT reports that that could prompt the Potters to sell Campbell during this window. And there is a lengthy queue of admirers forming.
According to talkSPORT, Rangers and Celtic both want to bring Campbell to the Scottish Premiership, but they have now been joined by Wolverhampton Wanderers, Crystal Palace and Bournemouth in the race for his signature.
The report also notes that RB Leipzig are keen on the 20-year-old.
TBR View – Opportunity for Rangers or Celtic to make a statement
Rangers and Celtic have managed to pull off some real coups in the transfer market in recent years. And signing Campbell would be a real statement should either manage to win the race.
Joining the likes of Wolves or Palace must be tempting for the youngster. Nuno Espirito Santo’s men are seventh in the Premier League and are competing in the Europa League this season. Meanwhile, Palace are only two places lower in the table.
Their presence in the race may complicate things for Steven Gerrard and Neil Lennon.
But it would arguably be foolish to suggest that Rangers or Celtic could not win the chase.
