Wolverhampton Wanderers’ summer spending might not be over yet. According to Get Reading, Wolves are trying to seal a deal for Danny Loader before the transfer window shuts.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s men have until 5 pm tomorrow to wrap up a deal for Loader. And the Premier League side are stepping up their efforts with Reading determined to hold onto their prized asset.
Over the course of the summer, Wolves have been trying to sign Loader. Reading have knocked back several bids but Wolves might return with a deadline day offer.
Reading face a challenge as they aim to hold onto the 18-year-old. His contract expires next summer and he is yet to agree on terms for an extension. This could play into Wolves’ hands as the clock ticks down.
Wolves are not the only side pushing for Loader, though. This report also mentions that Arsenal, Chelsea, Lille and some Bundesliga sides have been credited with an interest in the England U20 starlet.
But Wolves are in pole position to sign Loader before tomorrow’s deadline. This transfer saga could go down to the wire with Reading eager to resist any interest from the Europa League side.
Danny Loader: Present or future?
Loader has shown early signs of promise in his career but has only scored once in 24 games. His performances have been impressive, though, and his goalscoring record should improve with more playing time.
The teenager might not be ready to push Raul Jimenez, Patrick Cutrone and Diogo Jota for starts. But Wolves have a thin squad and he would bulk out their options, as well as providing the U23 squad with a new striker. In this sense, Loader could be used both now and for the future.
