Report: Wolves ‘agree’ Wallace fee, player has said ‘yes’ to Molineux switch

Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly struck a deal with Lazio for the transfer of central defender Wallace.

That’s the claim from La Lazio Siamo Noi, who state that the player has green-lighted a move to the Black Country club.

A rough agreement of €7 million/£6.4 million is supposedly in place.

Apparently though, there is still a minor hurdle with Wolves wanting the deal to be a loan with an option to buy, with Lazio wanting an obligation to buy.

The man tasked with sorting that out will be Jorge Mendes, the well known super-agent who represents Wallace.

Should he sign, then Wallace will become the club’s second defensive purchase of the summer after the loan signing of Jesus Vallejo from Real Madrid.

TBR’s view

It sounds as though a deal is quite close, and the fact that Mendes is Wallace’s agent would suggest a move is likely since he has been responsible for the transfers of Joao Moutinho, Ruben Neves and Rui Patricio.

An option to buy would be better for Wolves and they’ll be hopeful Mendes can negotiate that for them.

That said, the fee in question is relatively low so Wolves shouldn’t walk away from the transfer if Lazio stick to their guns.

Wallace would be a decent signing for the money involved.

He is not necessarily an upgrade on any of Nuno Espirito Santo’s current options, but he would be able to provide cover in what could be a gruelling season.
