Report: Willian unhappy with his dad after comments over Arsenal future

Willian and his representatives are not happy with the comments made by his father over his Arsenal future, according to Gazeta Esportiva.

What’s the story?

Speaking to Globo Esporte, the player’s father confirmed Corinthians’ interest in his son.

However, the latest news has claimed the comments have not gone down well with Willian or his representatives. The two parties believe his dad’s comments could hamper negotiations over a transfer.

Willian allegedly told his father to remain quiet about a potential move away from Arsenal. But, it seems his dad did not listen to his son.

The Brazil international joined the Gunners on a free transfer last summer.

However, the move has failed after the winger scored just once in 37 appearances across all competitions.

Arsenal will be hoping Willian secures exit

Shipping deadwood has become a central part of the Gunners’ transfer plans this summer.

It has helped with some of the incomings at the club and, with only a few days in the transfer window, Arsenal will be hoping to continue the trend.

As a result, Arsenal will be praying Willian is able to secure a move after the comments by his dad.

The winger’s exit is paramount to freeing up a non-homegrown squad space and some wages.

After joining Arsenal, it was claimed Willian would earn £220k-per-week. It was crazy wages for a player well into his thirties, and a decision that looks regrettable now.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are at the limit for the number of non-homegrown players allowed in a Premier League squad. To add a foreigner, the north Londoners will need to sell someone first.

From all the reports, Willian seems the closest to leaving. And Arsenal will be hoping the move is still on after recent comments.
