Report: When Spurs will learn if they're signing Ilaix Moriba
Spurs are to learn on Monday whether they have beaten RB Leipzig to the signing of Ilaix Moriba, according to the Sunday Mirror (29/8; page 66).
Moriba looks set to leave Barcelona in the final hours of the window. It has previously been reported that he is yet to sign a new contract at the Nou Camp with his current terms set to expire next summer.
RB Leipzig have reportedly agreed terms with his representatives already. Meanwhile, Spurs were set to meet his agents on Saturday.
According to that report from Sport, Tottenham are prepared to pay £12.8 million plus add-ons to land Moriba.
Obviously, with the deadline coming on Tuesday, Spurs fans will have known that they would not need to wait long to find out what the 18-year-old’s future holds.
But the Sunday Mirror (29/8; page 66) reports that Tottenham will know on Monday whether they have won the race.
Moriba deal would be icing on the cake for Spurs after superb window
Tottenham have arguably been one of the big winners of this summer window. Fabio Paratici has done some outstanding business.
And they have managed to keep their best player when many expected Harry Kane to leave North London.
Signing Moriba would surely be the icing on the cake. He is a player who could have an amazing future ahead.
Many of Europe’s biggest sides have been linked with a move for the teenager. So for Spurs to win the race would be a huge coup.
And it appears that they have a better idea of when they will learn whether they have secured his signature.
