Report: When Diogo Jota is now expected to return from injury as he continues rehab in Liverpool training camp
Liverpool star Diogo Jota is now unlikely to return from injury until at least February, with the Athletic reporting that he’s set to continue his rehab in Dubai as part of their training camp.
Jota has been ruled out ever since Liverpool’s 1-0 win over Manchester City back in October. The 26-year-old put in a brilliant display during that game as well and looked devastated after being forced off right before the full-time whistle.
Of course, Jota was then ruled out of the World Cup due to the calf injury he picked up and has been forced to watch Portugal from the sidelines.
Now, it seems that Jurgen Klopp will be without the former Wolves man for another two months.
When Jota is expected to return from injury
The Athletic reports that Jota is expected to travel with the Liverpool squad to Dubai, where he will continue his rehabilitation programme.
Klopp has got near enough a full squad to work with as Liverpool are set to take part in the Dubai Super Cup this month.
But Jota will continue to work his way back to full fitness in Dubai and is unlikely to return until February.
There is some positive news for Klopp though as the outlet notes that Liverpool hope Luis Diaz will be able to feature in the upcoming friendly games.
Naby Keita and Joel Matip have also returned to full fitness during the World Cup break.
Klopp will be delighted to have some of his key players returning to full fitness but will be eager to get Jota back as soon as possible.
The Portuguese forward has proven to be a brilliant option for Liverpool and a change of scenery could benefit him while he works towards full fitness.
Klopp will be hoping the mid-season trip to Dubai benefits his players as they aim to improve on an inconsistent start to the new campaign.
