Newcastle United are closing in on the signing of Sweden international Alexander Isak, and he could make his debut this weekend.
90Min report that Isak is in the north east preparing for a medical ahead of Sunday’s match against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The report says he would need to be registered by midday tomorrow (Friday) in order to be eligible to play against Bruno Lage’s men.
Callum Wilson’s injury added some urgency to the pursuit of Isak, and he could well start on his first outing in black and white.

Isak could make Newcastle debut vs Wolves
The report says personal terms are all but agreed between player and club as he prepares to become the club’s new record signing.
Newcastle have been chasing a versatile, talented young forward for the last two transfer windows, with Isak’s name mooted plenty.
It seemed like the asking price was going to be too great, but Newcastle have missed out on Hugo Ekitike and are not willing to do the same with Isak.
A period of adjustment will be needed for the 22-year-old, who is of course coming to Tyneside without a pre-season with his new teammates behind him.
But Newcastle have made a flying start to the season and Isak will be looking to slot straight into that, especially with Wilson’s injury giving him an opportunity to shine.
Chris Wood only joined in January and will still be looking for gametime, but the Isak signing is an exciting one and is a real statement of intent.
