Report: What William Saliba did right after Karl Hein's error on his Arsenal debut last night

Football.London has shared what William Saliba did right after Karl Hein made a costly error on his Arsenal debut last night.

The 20-year-old goalkeeper was surprisingly named in the starting line-up ahead of summer signing Matt Turner against Brighton.

Hein made an assured start to the game but gave away a penalty in the 27th minute, just minutes after Arsenal had taken the lead through Eddie Nketiah.

The youngster raced off his line after Danny Welbeck was played through on goal and appeared to be favourite to win the ball.

But Welbeck got there just before him and the goalkeeper’s outstretched arm sent the Brighton man tumbling to the ground.

Welbeck made no mistake from the spot against his old side and Hein looked devastated after the mistake.

What Saliba did after Hein’s error

Football.London reports that both Saliba and Rob Holding went over to the youngster to comfort him after his mistake.

Saliba gave Hein a pat on the back and a consoling high five to lift his spirits.

The Frenchman was the only player named in the starting line-up last night from the side who beat Chelsea on Sunday.

It was surprising to see Hein get the nod over Turner, who was signed over the summer and seemed to be nailed on to start in cup competitions for the Gunners.

The young goalkeeper couldn’t do much about Brighton’s other goals, with Kaoru Mitoma and Tariq Lamptey both producing excellent finishes.

Hein will be disappointed after making an error on his debut but performed well apart from one lapse in concentration.

The Estonian international has already racked up 16 caps for his national side and made 32 appearances for Arsenal’s U21 side.

As a younger player, he will only benefit from first-team experience and will learn from his mistakes.
