Report: What Spurs have just done involving Lo Celso and Romero
Spurs have reportedly dispatched one of their fitness coaches to Croatia to work alongside Giovani Lo Celso, Cristian Romero and Davinson Sanchez.
Lo Celso and Romero will join Sanchez in Croatia – on the UK’s green list of travel destinations – for a 10-day training camp.
This is to avoid returning directly to the UK from a red-list country and facing 10 days in a quarantine hotel.
And as per the Evening Standard, the club has sent a conditioning coach out to work with the three players in Croatia.
Aston Villa’s Argentina pair Emiliano Martinez and Emiliano Buendia will reportedly train at the same Croatian facility.
However, they will likely be separate from the Spurs players and with their own coach from Villa Park.
Argentina released Lo Celso and Romero on Monday, ahead of their World Cup qualifier with Bolivia.
This means they should be ready and available to face Chelsea on September 19.
Drama in Brazil
This news follows on from baffling scenes in last week’s World Cup qualifier between Argentina and Brazil in Sao Paulo.
The match was called off after just a few minutes when local health officials entered the pitch.
They accused the two Spurs players, plus Martinez and Buendia, of violating covid protocols in order to enter the country.
The Spurs duo will miss this weekend’s game against Crystal Palace and next week’s Europa Conference League meeting with Rennes.
As reported by the likes of The Guardian, Spurs did not give Romero and Lo Celso permission to join up with Argentina.
Indeed, Tottenham are reportedly expected to hand fines out to both players upon their return to N17.
