Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale was on the bench in the game against Bodo/Glimt yesterday, but what the Englishman did at half-time shows how much of a team player he really is.
Mikel Arteta has preferred summer signing Matt Turner in goal in the Europa League. He has started all three games so far and has kept two clean sheets – home and away against Bodo/Glimt.

What Ramsdale did with Matt Turner at half-time vs Bodo/Glimt
Turner had a very good first half yesterday. The American didn’t have a lot to do in terms of saving shots, but his distribution was much, much better than what it was last week.
Arsenal were only 1-0 up at the break and the game was still in the balance. Bodo/Glimt were expected to come out firing in the second half, and Ramsdale knew Turner wouldn’t have another quiet 45 minutes in goal.
So, the Englishman brought Turner out at half-time before all the other Arsenal players. He took him towards the goal and helped him warm up with a catching drill until the two sides came out. (Football London)
We don’t know if that helped, but Turner pulled off an excellent save in the second half to keep Arsenal’s lead intact. The Gunners went on to win the game, and Arteta showered praise on the USMNT goalkeeper in his post-match press conference.
Ramsdale would’ve definitely been a happy man with the result and his deputy’s display.

TBR View:
It’s a big ask of Turner to replace a player like Bernd Leno in Arsenal’s squad. The German is truly a fantastic goalkeeper, and the void he left when he moved to Fulham was a big one.
Turner, on the other hand, had never played in Europe before this season. Bringing him in was a big risk, but it looks like Arteta and Edu have scouted another very talented player.
The American has only played three games for Arsenal so far, but his improvement is evident. His distribution in his first two games were very average, but it was on a whole new level yesterday, especially in the first half. That is a very positive sign.
Arsenal take on Leeds United on Sunday and Ramsdale is expected to start. Turner could well return the favour at half-time at Elland Road by helping the Englishman with a few drills.
