Tottenham parted ways with Nuno Espirito Santo this morning and the game against Manchester United is said to have sealed his fate in the eyes of Fabio Paratici.
Spurs lost 3-0 to United and were wholly outplayed throughout. The boos rang out then the final whistle went, and in reality, Nuno was on a countdown to the sack ever since.
And according to Football.London, the writing was on the wall for the Portuguese coach as early as Edinson Cavani’s goal for United to make it 2-0.

FL report that Paratici is said to have stormed from his seat when Cavani knocked the goal and, crucially, he didn’t even return. It is reported that it was a show of disdain towards Santo in front of senior members of the Tottenham higher-ups.
From there, talks have taken place and Santo has lost his job. Antonio Conte is now the favourite to replace the former Wolves boss. It’s claimed Spurs are hoping to confirm the Italian within the coming days.
TBR’s View: Paratici losing patience says it all for Tottenham
Given that Paratici is said to have championed Nuno’s appointment in the first place, the fact he lost his rag says a lot.
You have to feel sorry for Nuno in a way. He was on a hiding to nothing and was never ever accepted as the first choice. In fact, it was always going to be a high pressure job as soon as a few defeats rolled in.
Now, everyone just needs to move on. Tottenham have essentially admitted a big mistake, the first big one of the Paratici era, and need to get the next decision right. If they don’t, then Spurs fans will well and truly lose patience you feel.
