Arsenal midfielder Martin Odegaard has rapidly become one of the very best at the club and is now widely considered one of the first names on the Gunners’ team sheet.
The Gunners fought back from a goal down against Wolves last night to win 2-1 and while Odegaard wasn’t on the scoresheet, he was instrumental in the comeback win. He was involved in the winning goal with a brilliant pass and of all the Arsenal players, he was deserving of a late three points.

Indeed, at the end of the game, it was clear Odegaard had given his all. As reported by Football.London, Odegaard was seen looking physically and mentally exhausted at the final whistle as he collapsed flat onto his back on The Emirates pitch. Certainly, as FL claim themselves, the Norwegian is doing his chances of becoming the next Arsenal captain no harm.
If there was a player who epitomised everything good about Arsenal last night, it was Martin Odegaard.
TBR’s View: Odegaard The Bargain At £30m
At the time, in the summer, it might have been an underwhelming signing in a way. The Gunners paying £30m for a midfielder who they’d had on loan the previous season.
However, what a signing he is proving to be. He might not be racking up the assists and goal numbers but Odegaard is involved in so much good play for Arsenal. He works hard, gets in good positions, and often is on hand to play the decisive pass in a move. Odegaard has had plenty of praise in his time at the club, with Charlie Patino among those to do so after labelling him ‘amazing’.
You have to say now, six months down the line, that the £30m fee Arsenal have paid is a bargain. Mikel Arteta will be delighted with his man. And in a team of young, vibrant attackers, you have to say that Odegaard is the one who isn’t getting dropped any time soon from the XI.
