Report: What Leipzig staff who watched Tyler Adams closely in training are now saying about Leeds new signing

Leeds United new boy Tyler Adams impressed RB Leipzig staff with his professionalism in training last season, the Athletic report.

Adams was not a permanent inclusion in Leipzig’s starting line-up, which left him frustrated with his lack of minutes.

But the Leeds summer signing never grumbled and continued to get on with the job at hand.

Indeed Leipzig staff, who watched him closely, are said to have been struck by the fact that he was ‘never disruptive or difficult’ and he continued to be happy to get involved in sponsorship campaigns.

His attitude is sure to be pleasing to Leeds fans, who are eager to see their new midfielder in action for the first time.

It also may go some way to show exactly why Leeds boss Jesse Marsch was so keen to work with him again.

Marsch has managed Adams on multiple occasions throughout his career, and the Athletic say he really pushed to bring him to Elland Road.

It is not just the Whites boss who clearly has been impressed by the American though.

Adams’ past teammates also still speak about him glowing terms. Former Leeds United striker Mike Grella played for RB Leipzig between 2015 and 2017 and he waxed lyrical about the midfielder when asked.

He said to the Athletic: “He spent a couple of weeks with us and by the end of those two weeks, I could see it: maturity, fearlessness and all the things Jesse needed to accomplish the things he set out to accomplish.

“A lot of guys sell themselves as fearless when they’re not because it sounds good. Tyler really was.”

Grella also said that Adams has a ‘nasty streak’ and due to his high-energy style, Marsch likes him a lot.

Adams certainly has big boots to fill as he replaces Kalvin Phillips – a player who has been an integral part of the Leeds team over the past few years.

But if Grella is right about what they’re saying about Adams, he will be an ideal fit for Premier League football.
