The Athletic has shared what Dan Burn was heard shouting at his Newcastle United teammates in the tunnel at the Emirates last night.

Eddie Howe’s men battled their way to a point in north London last night as they held Arsenal to a goalless draw.

As you would expect from the best defence in the Premier League, Newcastle limited the Gunners to half chances and Joelinton had a glorious opportunity to open the scoring.

The Magpies defended resolutely throughout and in particular, Burn put in another impressive display after an early scare.

The 30-year-old was tasked with keeping the in-form Bukayo Saka quiet and he was beaten by the youngster early on in the game. But Newcastle adjusted quickly and started to double up on Saka to stifle his threat.

It was a well-deserved point for Newcastle and only strengthens claims that they are more than capable of fighting for a place in the top-four this season.

And Burn’s comments in the tunnel right before kick-off set the tone for what was a spirited Newcastle display.

What Burn was heard shouting at teammates

The Athletic reports that Burn was heard shouting at his Newcastle teammates ahead of a huge clash.

The defender screamed: “F—— come on,” in the tunnel just moments before kick-off.

Arsenal felt they should have been awarded two penalties last night, with Mikel Arteta visibly furious on the touchline.

Despite the controversy in the second-half, Newcastle fully deserved to take something away from the game.

Nick Pope came up big when called upon as he made a smart save with his feet to deny Eddie Nketiah right at the end of the game.

Howe’s men haven’t tasted defeat since the end of August and they are looking like real contenders to break into the top-four at the moment.

Newcastle face an FA Cup tie and a quarter-final clash against Leicester City over the next seven days. But Howe will be hoping to return to winning ways in the Premier League against Fulham next weekend.
