Report: What Bruno Guimaraes did after hearing Newcastle United fans sing his name during Leicester win
Newcastle picked back up where they left off yesterday as they earned an emphatic 3-0 win over an in-form Leicester side.
Eddie Howe’s side stormed into a 2-0 lead inside the opening 10 minutes of the game after goals from Chris Wood and Miguel Almiron.
Joelinton won a penalty inside the first two minutes of the game, which Wood smashed past Danny Ward. Almiron linked up brilliantly with Guimaraes for Newcastle’s second of the game, while Joelinton got amongst the goals himself to head home their third.
The game was wrapped up inside the first-half and Newcastle cruised to a win that lifted them to second place.
Guimaraes caught the eye once again in midfield and was handed the man of the match award after the game. And Newcastle fans showed their appreciation for the Brazilian’s display at the King Power Stadium yesterday.
What Guimaraes did after hearing Newcastle fans wing his name
The Athletic reports that the Newcastle fans were taunting the Leicester faithful about leaving the stadium early after their side raced into a 3-0 lead.
They then turned their attention to Guimaraes as they sang his name after he put in another brilliant display.
And the 25-year-old responded by bowing to the away end to show he appreciates their support.
Guimaraes barely featured for Brazil at the World Cup and after his display yesterday, it leaves you wondering why Tite left him out of his starting line-up in Qatar.
The midfielder has been a revelation for Newcastle ever since making the switch from Lyon back in January and he’s transformed their midfield, alongside the likes of Joelinton.
Newcastle are currently the closest side to the league leaders Arsenal and sit seven points off the top. Howe’s men certainly don’t look like slowing down anytime soon and yesterday’s display was yet another statement from the Magpies.
