Aston Villa’s push for Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe is not said to be related to Jack Grealish potentially leaving, according to CBS.
Grealish has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester City in recent weeks, which has coincided with Villa making two separate offers for Smith Rowe.
Naturally there has been speculation that Villa may well be planning for their captain’s exit, with Pep Guardiola’s side so keen.
However, CBS say that Villa are not signing Smith Rowe to be Grealish’s replacement.
Instead the claret and blues want to bring in the playmaker to supplement their current talisman.

Ambitious plans
Villa have already brought in Emiliano Buendia this summer and if they could complete a swoop for Smith Rowe while keeping Grealish then they would have a seriously enviable collection of attacking options.
Any move for Smith Rowe looks unlikely at this stage, due to Arsenal’s determination to keep their academy graduate.
However, the rumours really do show Villa’s ambition – especially as they are apparently not planning to sell Grealish.
And if Villa can push on with their exciting transfer plans, then it may just be enough to convince Grealish that staying around may be a good option, despite strong interest from City.
