Report: What Alisson did at Anfield on Saturday well after Jurgen Klopp had walked away down the tunnel
Liverpool picked up an important 3-1 win against Southampton on Saturday to put them within seven points of fourth-placed Tottenham, with a game in hand.
Roberto Firmino got amongst the goals while Darwin Nunez bagged a brace after Che Adams had levelled up the scoring.
After Liverpool took a 3-1 lead, Alisson made two hugely important saves to ensure his side picked up three points.
And the Kop showed their appreciation for the Brazilian after Klopp turned down the chance to celebrate with the fans.
What Alisson did at Anfield
The Daily Mail reports that Klopp disappointed the Liverpool faithful in the Kop after they beckoned for him to celebrate with a flurry of fist bumps.
But the German boss simply waved at the fans instead and left Alisson to soak in the atmosphere.
Alisson walked towards the Kop and the fans began to chant his name after another impressive display between the sticks.
Klopp is usually not one to shy away from celebrating with the fans but he will probably feel there is not enough cause for celebrations just yet.
Liverpool rounded off the first-half of the season with three wins but have struggled to find consistency over the past three months.
Klopp’s men sit seven points behind fourth-placed Tottenham and 15 behind league leaders Arsenal. But the German will undoubtedly be happy with the way his side have played over the past week.
Alisson has been ever-present between the sticks for Liverpool and deserved the plaudits after coming up big when his side needed him on Saturday.
Klopp will be hoping to find more consistency after the World Cup as he aims to help his side climb back up towards the top-end of the table.
