Weston McKennie is open to joining Aston Villa as well as Southampton this summer, with Birmingham Live reporting that he is hoping to see the Villans make an offer for him.

McKennie looks destined to end the window as a Premier League player. ESPN reported this week that the Saints are one of six clubs in the top flight to have taken a look at the 21-year-old.

Sky Sports meanwhile, has suggested that Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men have begun talks with Schalke over a potential £20 million move for the USA international.

Interestingly however, McKennie does not appear to be closing the door on other options.

Birmingham Live has claimed that the youngster is also open to joining Dean Smith’s side. And he is hoping that the Villans will make a move.

TBR View: McKennie could be outstanding if Villa make a move

It remains to be seen if Villa do make a move for McKennie. But there will surely be plenty of supporters hoping that they do join the race.

He has established himself as one of their brightest prospects in the Bundesliga. He offers versatility, and will seemingly not cost an eye-watering amount.

And with McKennie reportedly keen to see Villa make a bid, it looks to be a no-brainer for the club to make a move this summer.
