Report: West Ham watch 20-year-old at title winners, club expect interest if he shines at Euros
West Ham links are now emerging with David Zima at Czech Republic champions Slavia Prague.
Slavia, who West Ham previously signed Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal from, are a talented side that won the league title this season.
According to the Athletic, the Hammers are eyeing another possible raid on them.
West Ham are reportedly scouting the 20-year-old, and Slavia expect interest in him if he shines as part of the Czech Republic squad this summer at Euro 2020.
It is understood that the defender would be open to a possible move to the Premier League or La Liga, but would need assurances about his game time.
Zima is a 6ft 3in centre-back that has enjoyed a strong individual campaign. He played 35 games across all competitions in the heart of defence.
Interestingly, he was a mainstay in the starting XI during his team’s run to the Europa League final. Additionally, he’s a ball-playing centre-half comfortable with the ball at his feet.
Should West Ham move for David Zima?
If Zima performs at the Euros, surely there will be plenty of clubs interested in him. However, West Ham’s relationship with Slavia should give them an advantage.
Aside from previous success with Slavia signings, Zima looks like he could suit the Premier League too on merit.
David Moyes’ West Ham need to beefed up their squad to deal with the own European campaign next season, so should keep a close eye on his summer performances.
