Report: West Ham want Tammy Abraham loan but Chelsea could put blockers up
According to a report from The Athletic, West Ham want to sign Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham on loan but could face a block from the Blues.
It is claimed the Hammers want Abraham next season. The news is nothing new on that front. Abraham has been linked with a move to West Ham for a while now, albeit a more permanent switch has been touted.
But The Athletic claim that the Hammers are eyeing a loan move, something which might not suit Chelsea. It is believed the Blues want Abraham to sign a new contract first, meaning they’re likely to entertain any sort of offer until he does that.
West Ham boss, David Moyes, has been keen to add a striker ever since he sold Sebastien Haller. Yesterday’s loss against Everton proved the value of having a number nine, as Dom Calvert-Lewin made the big difference.
Abraham has scored 12 goals this season but has fallen out of favour under Thomas Tuchel. However, he can have few complaints, given the Blues’ efforts in Europe and climb into the top four. The striker is thought to earn around £50k-a-week at Stamford Bridge.
TBR View: West Ham need to push the boat out here, Abraham is ideal
In terms of the profile of striker the Hammers need, they don’t come much better or well-suited than Abraham.
The Hammers need some presence up top, and Abraham certainly brings that. He also scores goals, too. And while he’s not the most prolific in the league, he will only get better.
If you’re a West Ham fan here, you are hoping the club pushes the boat out here for the Chelsea man.
