The Daily Mail claim West Ham have been told that New York City will only sell on-fire striker Valentin Castellanos, if a fee in the region of £15million is tabled. The Hammers are interested, and have been for a while.
Castellanos, 23, has been sensational since joining Ronny Deila’s New York City, who held aloft the 2021 MLS Cup over the weekend. The U23 Argentina ace scored an impressive 23 goals in 36 appearances.
Not only that, but the ex-Montevideo ace also laid on another eight assists for his side. That form has not gone unnoticed, with West Ham ready to lure him to London from across the pond.
Pep Guardiola praised Castellanos over the weekend, given Manchester City are New York City’s sister club. The City gaffer labelled the striker as a “quality player”, and is “ready to make the next step”.
That next step could be to cover Michail Antonio at West Ham. They have been keeping an eye on him, and a fee of £15million is required to sign him – with Besiktas already having an offer rejected.

West Ham eye Castellanos: A worthwhile signing?
It is always risky bringing players in from the MLS. Ask Newcastle fans, Miguel Almiron was supposedly one of MLS’ best to offer. A sizeable transfer fee later, and he joined Newcastle – but has struggled.
West Ham do need cover up top as they approach the Europa League knockout stages after Christmas. In good form, confidence high and cheap for a striker of his age – Castellanos could be a good signing.
